For a glaucoma patient . . .

Maximum efficacy is the first priority

Short-term hyperemia doesn't need to be a barrier when battling progression

New Gallup survey reveals patient concern over glaucomatous vision loss:

  • Among glaucoma patients, 83% fear potential vision loss 1
  • Almost 4 out of 10 glaucoma patients report existing vision loss 1
In a Glaucoma Research Foundation survey of 4310 patients…
  • 92% responded that they preferred the most effective medication, even if it meant the possibility of a few weeks of red eyes 2
    • Only 8% responded that they wanted a less effective medication that did not cause red eyes 2
    • Only 4% of patients said they would discontinue a medication if it caused temporary red eyes 2
  • Three times as many patients changed doctors out of concern over IOP reduction than medication side effects 2
238 patients surveyed in a product-experience trial chose efficacy over side effects.
  • 99% of patients agree increased IOP reduction is worth managing hyperemia 3
Facts about LUMIGAN compliance reveal patient resolve

LUMIGAN patients are determined to stay with the most efficacious medication

Intent to continue LUMIGAN therapy 3,4

LEED data from a community-based, 2-month, open-label, multicenter, naturalistic trial involving 1428 sites throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. Patients with glaucoma or ocular hypertension who needed additional IOP lowering or who were intolerant of other glaucoma medication were placed on bimatoprost therapy (alone or in combination with other drugs at the physician's discretion).

EPIC data collected from a product experience trial of 238 patients with glaucoma or ocular hypertension. Patients were asked medication-related questions ranging from prior medications used, therapy satisfaction, and current knowledge of disease state. Intraocular pressure (IOP) measurements were also taken at baseline and at a follow-up visit approximately 6 weeks later.

Why let short-term hyperemia keep a patient from the long-term benefits of IOP reduction?

  How Does Lumigan

LUMIGAN (bimatoprost ophthalmic solution) 0.03% is for the treatment of high eye pressure, also called intraocular pressure (IOP), in people with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension.

Important Safety Information
LUMIGAN (bimatoprost ophthalmic solution) 0.03% has been reported to cause darkening (pigmentation) of eye color, eyelid skin and eyelashes, as well as increased growth of eyelashes. Pigmentation changes can increase as long as LUMIGAN is used. After stopping LUMIGAN, darkening of eye color is likely to be permanent while darkening of the eyelid skin and eyelash changes may be reversible. The effects of increased darkening beyond 5 years are not known.

The most common side effects are eye redness,  growth of eyelashes,  and itchy eyes.
