LUMIGAN achieves lower mean IOP than timolol in black and non-black patients
LUMIGAN offers greater IOP reduction than travopost, even in African Americans
LUMIGAN achieves lower mean IOP than timolol in black and non-black patients
Overall mean IOP (pooled follow-up visits) for each time of day in blacks and non-blacks 20
Significantly lower than timolol in blacks and non-blacks
Data were from a randomized, pivotal double-masked, multicenter, parallel-group, 12-month trial of 132 patients randomized to receive either timolol 0.5% BID or bimatoprost QD (vehicle given in morning). Scheduled visits were at prestudy, day 0 (baseline), weeks 2 and 6, and months 3, 6, 9, and 12.

LUMIGAN performance in black patients
Data were from a randomized, investigator-masked, multicenter, parallel-design trial comparing the IOP-lowering efficacy of bimatoprost 0.03% and travoprost 0.004% in African Americans with glaucoma or ocular hypertension. After a washout of all ocular hypotensive agents, patients were assigned to bimatoprost once daily (n = 16) or travoprost once daily (n = 15) for 3 months. Study visits were at baseline and months 1, 2, and 3. Differences were not statistically significant, probably due to a small sample size.
